Event Chairs Emily & Rusty Kelley welcome Marcus Luttrell to the stage

It was a patriotic evening, with over 500 event attendees donning red, white, and blue at this year’s “Celebration Dinner” filling up the Omni Houston Ballroom. The evening’s theme “Fight For Life. Live To Tell The Story.” came alive as former resident, Cindy, who lived at the ministry in 1993, shared her moving journey since LifeHouse. Cindy presented her now 23-year-old daughter, Kaylee, onstage who currently attends a four-year university and often returns to LifeHouse with her mother to volunteer.

Special guest speaker, former Navy SEAL, and author of the book “Lone Survivor,” Marcus Luttrell, shared about his upbringing and gratefulness for his own mother and wife who have helped to shape his character. Following Marcus, LifeHouse had its first live auction with trips to Spain and Santa Fe auctioned off as well as an exotic gun shoot. The highest bid items were two HK 556 sniper guns used by Navy SEALS and autographed by Marcus.

Past President and current Board Member, Nate Richards, closed out the evening by inviting attendees to become a part of the LifeHouse family through the gift of giving. Donors responded generously by donating close to $100,000 the night of the event and $308,000 overall through underwriting and sponsorships. LifeHouse is currently recruiting for the 2016 “Celebration Dinner” event committee.
