EXPANSION SET FOR 2016
LIFEHOUSE SEARCHES FOR NEW HOME IN FORT BEND
On January 26th, the LifeHouse of Houston Board of Directors met and voted unanimously to move forward on a God-given vision to expand the ministry into the Fort Bend County area of Houston. The expansion committee, chaired by Board Member Houston Lane, had researched different ideas for over a year. By leasing a house, this opportunity to pilot a project in Fort Bend County will allow LifeHouse to house 20-25 more women per year and also increase its non-residential reach to the Greater Houston community.
In 2015, LifeHouse saw applications for services increase 128% from 175 in 2014 to over 450 applications. Having only six beds focused on housing adult women in unplanned pregnancies, the need to expand was evident. After being carefully analyzed in 2015 by an independant consulting firm called Excellence In Giving (EIG), and given benchmark measurements for expansion, LifeHouse knew it needed to explore expansion. During this same time, LifeHouse was approached by several individuals in Fort Bend County who expressed the need for a life-affirming, family-focused, Christ-centered maternity home in their area. After much prayer and fasting, it was decided that the west side of Houston, specifically the Fulshear area, would be the place to launch this pilot project and open a third LifeHouse Home.
The pilot project will be self-funded by donations already made to the ministry for the first year. With great hopes of success, LifeHouse will look for new community support from the Fort Bend County area and then determine whether to enter into a capital campaign in its second year to continue funding and possibly purchase the property. Please join us in prayer as we walk out this God-permeated mission and work toward the next steps in the expansion process. Additionally, if you know of a home that would be a great fit for LifeHouse that is available for lease, please contact Sue Baumgarten at email@example.com.
